In October, Bertie suffered a stroke that dramatically changed her day-to-day life and created new challenges for her and her family. While we are incredibly grateful that she is here and continuing to fight, the road to recovery is long and challenging.

The stroke has significantly impacted Bertie’s vision and mobility on her left side. She now requires ongoing physical therapy and daily support, along with essential medical equipment and home modifications to keep her safe and comfortable. These needs include a new bed, a wheelchair, a walker, and the installation of a ramp at her home — expenses that quickly add up.

Through it all, her husband Butch has been by her side, doing everything he can to support her recovery. As the sole income earner, he is carrying the full financial responsibility while navigating insurance limitations that only cover part of what’s needed. Like so many families in this situation, the costs are piling up faster than they can be managed, and the stress is heavy.

This fundraiser is about helping ease that burden — giving Butch a little breathing room so he can focus on what matters most: caring for Bertie and supporting her healing journey.
