Easing the Burden: Aid for Ruby's Family

Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this, knowing how many times I’ve already leaned on the kindness and generosity of others. Recently, my family was struck again by the devastating news that my sister’s husband has been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. He will soon begin an intense treatment regimen that will include multiple surgeries and other therapies.

My sister is a devoted kindergarten teacher, has always been the heart of her classroom and her family. However, as they face the fight for her husband’s life, it is becoming clear that they will not be able to afford the costs that lie ahead without help. Between medical bills and the inability to work as she cares for him, the financial toll is simply too much to bear on their own as they simply don’t have any savings to fall on.

I hesitate to send this request, especially as many of you have already been so incredibly generous during my brother’s recent battle with cancer. It feels as though cancer has no mercy for our family, but I know that the love and support of a community can make all the difference.
