Easing the Burden After Spirit Airlines Shutdown

After 35 years of dedication to Spirit Airlines, starting over. Not as simple as people may think. This wasn’t just a job — it was her entire adult life, her routine, her identity, and the career she gave everything to through decades of changes, sacrifices, uncertainty, and challenges.

She loved Spirit and was there from day one and now she has to say goodbye. This company was more than a paycheck to her — it was her family, her passion, and the life she built over 35 years. So not only has this been financially devastating, but emotionally heartbreaking as well.

Unfortunately, on May 2, 2026, Spirit Airlines ceased operations, and from one day to the next, everything she had known for decades was suddenly wiped away.

Over the years, she rolled with every punch this industry threw at her. Most recently, she faced the heartbreak and difficulty of being displaced from New Jersey to Fort Lauderdale, leaving behind the home base she knew, while continuing to do what she had to do to survive and provide for her daughter.

Adding even more stress to an already heartbreaking situation, she now has to file for unemployment which will not even close to paying her responsibilities financially.
Now, like so many others, she is left trying to make sense of what comes next. Starting over at 30, 40, or even 50 is difficult enough. She is in her 60s and after giving an entire lifetime to one company, it can feel overwhelming.

This page was created simply to help ease some of that burden while she navigates this unexpected chapter of life. If you feel moved to contribute, it is deeply appreciated. If not, that is completely okay too. But please remember there are real people behind these stories, and many are grieving the loss of everything they’ve known for decades.

A little compassion goes a long way. ✈️
