Easing Susan's Burden After Rich's Passing

To those of you who have not heard the terrible news, we lost Rich to esophageal cancer on August 13, 2024.

My name is Carmela and I have been authorized by Rich's wife Susan to create this opportunity to come together to help ease the financial burden caused by a sudden and shocking terminal cancer diagnosis and its devastating aftermath.

Rich's passing has shattered the lives of those who knew him and loved him. And there were many! Known for his warmth, kindness, and selflessness, Rich went out of his way to help everyone in his life, to be the best son, husband, friend and uncle that he could possibly be.

Rich was born in Flagstaff, Arizona. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he met his wife Susan. They ran a lumber and hardware business in El Sobrante, CA until they made the permanent move to Maui in 1983. Rich got a job as a driver for the Kihei Taxi & Tour Company where he worked for 30 years. When Rich picked up clients from hotels, the bellmen loved that Rich was their guest's driver! He was a great talker, knew how to put people at ease and had a knack for really taking care of people. He was also incredibly knowledgeable about the island and absolutely loved it. His love for Maui was infectious! Rich was also a huge motorcycle and car enthusiast as well as a die hard Dodgers fan!

Rich and Susan were together for 51 years and loved each other deeply. They were best friends as well as devoted spouses. Susan feels so lucky that she got to be his wife. It was her honor to be his "rockstar" caregiver in the months between his diagnosis and death. But now that he has passed, Susan needs help to pay some bills: medical, cremation expenses, and her rent among others.
