A year ago in the fall, when we were looking for a pony for our daughter we met Poppy, a lovely Haflinger pony at a rescue who was looking for a family. We were fortunate enough to be chosen to adopt her and she instantly became our daughter’s best friend. It felt like she had been here forever. They had marvelous adventures together, and big plans for the future. Poppy fell sick this winter and despite plenty of hard work from her doctors, her body failed rapidly and she needed to be euthanized due to a complex set of factors. We would have done anything to save her, but ultimately the decision to set her free was the right one. We are left brokenhearted and with high, unanticipated veterinary and burial costs as a result. Any assistance toward softening some of the edges of this shocking loss would be greatly appreciated.
