On 1 September 2024, just 2 months after her 58th birthday, our daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, Joyce Monic Murphy, more casually known as Mona, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Mona has been fighting with everything she has. After the first treatment, one of the spots on her liver was gone. After the second round, more had grown. They tried a different treatment, then a new one…

Her immune system is taking a beating. Her whole body is. She is not giving up. She is fighting. She is being released from the hospital today, November 2nd, from her 2nd hospital stay in a month. As soon as she is strong enough, she will start a new treatment.

We do not know how much more her system can take. She has been disabled for years, and her only financial income is a small disability check. Mona has no life insurance or other means to pay for cremation, a marker, or any other final expense. This has led to stress and worry during a time when she should be focused on fighting.

We are setting up this GoFundMe page to ease the emotional burden she may be feeling. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and would afford Mona some peace of mind during these difficult days.
