Easing Mom's Medical Burden

In September of 2024, my mom was visiting family in Mexico and got into a car accident. My dad and sister did not sustain any injuries, but unfortunately, my mom did. She fractured her pelvis and had a partial hip replacement surgery. This has left her unable to work for the past few months, which means my family relies solely on my dad's income.

It is a difficult time for my family since my dad is the only one covering my family's expenses and my mom's medical expenses, which have begun to add up. In December of 2024, my mom informed me that when she got imaging done for her first surgery, it was revealed that she had a mass growing on her thymus gland and that it needed to be removed. She was just beginning to be herself again after her hip replacement surgery, but now she had to prepare for another surgery, thus prolonging her recovery and leaving her without work for longer.

As of late January of 2025,It is now known that the mass is in fact malignant. My mom was diagnosed with a Stage IIb thymoma and will will soon have to begin chemotherapy.

En septiembre de 2024, mi mamá estaba visitando a su familia en México y tuvo un accidente automovilístico. Mi papá y mi hermana no sufrieron ninguna lesión, pero desafortunadamente, mi mamá sí. Se fracturó la pelvis y tuvo una cirugía de reemplazo parcial de cadera. Esto la dejó sin poder trabajar durante los últimos meses, lo que significa que mi familia depende únicamente de los ingresos de mi papá.

Es un momento difícil para mi familia, ya que mi papá es el único que cubre los gastos de mi familia y los gastos médicos de mi mamá, que han comenzado a acumularse. En diciembre de 2024, mi mamá me informó que cuando le hicieron las imágenes para su primera cirugía, se reveló que tenía una masa creciendo en su glándula timo y que necesitaba ser extirpada. Ella estaba comenzando a ser ella misma nuevamente después de su cirugía de reemplazo de cadera, pero ahora tenía que prepararse para otra cirugía, lo que prolongaría su recuperación y la dejaría sin trabajo por más tiempo.

Hasta el momento, no se sabe si la masa es benigna o maligna, pero de todas formas, es otro gasto médico que mi familia tendrá que pagar además de los gastos diarios habituales. Cualquier apoyo durante este momento difícil será muy apreciado.
