My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October 2024. She fell into a hypoglycemic coma last Saturday- 4 days before she got to start chemotherapy. When the doctors took an MRI to figure out why she wouldn't wake up, they showed me the scan of her liver. Multiple tumors had spread to her liver that caused an organ failure, which led to brain damage.

After a week in CCU, my mother never woke up. My family and I were left with only 2 choices. We could either put her on life support, or take out her ventilator and let her pass naturally. Yesterday, the nurses took out the ventilator and removed all the IV. The only thing my family and I could do was sit by her bedside and just wait.

In the midst of this incredibly tough time for my family, I overheard my dad who wanted to speak to a social worker regarding finances. It completely shattered my heart to think he’s worried about how he’s going to afford additional medical bills, the funeral, the house mortgage, and possibly steer away from a grief therapist since it would cost money.

He's a senior citizen, but still chooses to work. My father and mother both immigrated from Korea together. My mother chose to work, despite her cancer, up until the last month of 2024. As their daughter, it pains me that I can’t afford to pay everything myself so I’m humbly asking for help.

100% of the donations will be going to my dad. He has no idea about any of this and I can't wait to surprise him with something so helpful and special. It will be a perfect reminder to him that he's taken care of and not alone.
