Eric's Recovery
Donation protected
Update: We are sharing Eric's current medical situation in hopes to help the financial burden of this long journey him and his family have been through.
Yesterday, after much consideration and numerous failed attempts to fix Eric's leg, it had been decided it was time to amputate it below the knee. There was no chance of normalcy as hardware continued to back out leaving him in extreme pain.
Eric is hopeful that he will be able to move past this nearly 2 year long struggle and adapt a prosthetic leg and get back to a somewhat normal routine . We hope we can raise enough funds help him and his wife Holly get through another long road ahead. We are so grateful to those that have donated and shared. They need your support again! ❤️
Hi family and friends; here is an update on my brother Eric. But first, warning about the graphic photos below, they are gross.
Some of you know my brother Eric fell from a ladder while trimming trees at his Florida home and broke his tibia and fibula; both were compound fractures and the extent of treatment he's received is really hard to explain.
When Eric broke his leg, doctors did their best to clean and stitch the wounds, but because Eric landed near a retention pond, his injuries quickly became infected with staph, and his tissue started dying. The doctors threatened to amputate his leg on many occasions as the infections came back; however, Eric was hopeful of saving it. That was a sum of what happened the first few months of the injury.
Since then, he has struggled with infections, surgeries, medical visits, hardware replacements, medicine rejections, skin graphs, doctors appts., insurance disputes, a job loss, more surgeries, etc.
Eric broke his leg in November of 2021. He's had 19 surgeries thus far and has been dealing with this injury for a year! He has had, bone damage, dying tissue, screws backing out and "bad" hardware, but until recently, his last few surgeries have gone "well" and things are starting to look up and should be walking soon. This journey has taken a financial and mental toll on him, his wife and his kids.
With all that said, if you would like to donate to help them with their past and future expenses, I know they will be overwhelmingly grateful. If you can't, praying for them goes a long way too, because he's still not in the clear.
Thank you for any support! I know Eric and his family will use this money on medical debt, future appointments and travel expenses.
