Our dad (Jack Klar) has been through an incredibly frightening and unexpected medical journey over the past few weeks.
What began as double pneumonia quickly became life-threatening and ultimately led to the need for open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. While doctors were waiting for the pneumonia to clear to make surgery safer, his condition worsened, and he was rushed into emergency open heart surgery on Christmas Eve.
Following surgery, he faced serious complications including dangerously low blood pressure and oxygen levels, which required heavy sedation and a ventilator for two and a half days. Thankfully, he was eventually able to come off the ventilator and was discharged a few days later.
After being home for only a day and a half, he was rushed back to the ER due to a blood clot in his lung. This resulted in another hospital admission in Duluth, where he stayed for an additional week.
We are incredibly grateful that our dad is now home and doing well, but he has a long and difficult recovery ahead of him. He will be unable to work for at least the next six months. Between four separate hospital admissions, two ambulance rides, emergency open heart surgery, and ongoing medical care, the medical bills are overwhelming.
We are asking for any donations to help ease the financial burden during his recovery. Any amount, along with prayers, kind words, or sharing this page, means more than we can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support during this incredibly challenging time.
