Hi everyone, my name is Riley.

I’m a tiny 4-month-old Yorkie, and on September 27th my mom and dad brought me home. From the very first moment, I finally felt what it was like to be loved, safe, and part of a family.

But shortly after coming home, I started to get really sick. My mom and dad noticed something wasn’t right, so they rushed me to the vet. That’s when they learned I had been born with a hole in my intestines. The doctors did everything they could to save me. I had Porto systemic shunt surgery to close the hole and for a little while it looked like I might pull through… but then my white blood cell count started dropping.

On November 17th, my mom and dad got the call no one ever wants to receive. Even though I fought as hard as my little body could, I crossed the rainbow bridge.

My mom and dad are heartbroken. And on top of losing me, they are now facing over $6,000 in medical bills — a burden I never meant to leave them with.
