Hi, my name is Desiree Marlett, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times in my life.

For the past 8 months, my mother, Jennifer Daugherty, has been bravely fighting stage 4 colon and liver cancer. She’s undergone 12 rounds of chemotherapy and is now living with a colostomy bag, something she’s just recently started to adapt to. Despite her strength, the news we received last week shattered us: her diagnosis is now terminal.

Doctors estimate that, at best, we may have a year left with her; but realistically, they’re preparing us for closer to 9 months given how aggressive the cancer has become.

Because of her condition, my mom is no longer able to work. Her partner has taken on the full burden of household bills, but it’s simply too much for one person to carry alone. My boyfriend and I have stepped in to help wherever we can: covering groceries, gas, car insurance, and other day-to-day needs, but it’s becoming more than we can afford.

We were never financially well-off to begin with, but now we’re barely making it paycheck to paycheck. Our savings are gone, and we’re struggling just to get through each week.

This GoFundMe is to help ease the growing financial strain while we focus on what really matters: giving my mom comfort, support, and time for however long we have left.
