This GoFundMe page was set up for a personal friend and colleague tragically impacted by the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey in which more than 11,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured.

Ilayda Sayin and her husband Carlos traveled to Ilayda’s native country of Turkey to give birth so that they could be closer to family. The local couple welcomed their beautiful baby girl Claudia just two weeks ago and were still in Turkey when this unimaginable disaster struck.

The Sayin’s were on the 8th floor of a 12 story building when the quake hit and immediately evacuated as they saw buildings crumbling around them. They cannot go back to their home due to major structural damage and are now forced to live on the streets while trying to find housing and a safe place to relocate.

Freezing weather conditions are further endangering survivors and complicating rescue efforts, as more than 100 aftershocks have struck the region.

Ilayda and her extended family - who also lived in the building - are in desperate need of your help not only to purchase food and baby’s essentials but also gas to heat their car (where some are living) and place to stay.
