On June 24, 2026, two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude struck Venezuela within less than a minute of each other, devastating communities across the country. Thousands of lives were lost, countless families were left without homes and essential resources, and communities continue to face the long road toward recovery.
Now, on August 10, 2026, another powerful earthquake struck the region. A 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit western Colombia near San José del Palmar in the Chocó region, causing significant damage and sending people rushing from buildings. The earthquake was felt across Colombia and into neighboring countries, including Ecuador and Venezuela, as emergency teams continue assessing the full extent of the damage and responding to those affected.
In just over a month, communities across these neighboring countries have once again been reminded of how quickly lives can change. Families are facing damaged homes, injuries, displacement, and uncertainty about what comes next.
How Your Donation Will Help
Your donation will help provide essential relief for families affected by these earthquakes, including emergency food and clean drinking water, medical supplies and hygiene products, temporary shelter and household necessities, support for families rebuilding their homes and communities, and other urgent humanitarian needs as they arise.
We are actively working to identify trusted organizations, local partners, and reliable distribution channels so funds can reach the communities that need them most. We will provide regular updates throughout this fundraiser, including how funds are being allocated and the impact your generosity is making. Every donor deserves to know where their contribution is going.
Why We Created This Fundraiser
We created this fundraiser because we believe that even small acts of generosity can provide meaningful support to families facing the aftermath of these disasters. Our family has long dreamed of creating RICA11, an organization dedicated to humanitarian relief and meaningful service. RICA11 is currently in the process of becoming an officially registered nonprofit, and we are choosing to begin that mission by helping communities in need now. This cause is important to us not only because we believe every community deserves support in times of crisis, but because it is also close to home. Our family has roots in Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States, with friends and family across Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and beyond. Seeing communities connected to people we love experience this devastation reminds us that borders should never keep us from helping one another.
Why Your Support Matters
Recovery doesn't end when the headlines disappear. It takes months, and often years, for families and communities to rebuild after a disaster of this magnitude. Venezuela is still recovering, while Colombia is now beginning its emergency response. Communities in Ecuador and surrounding areas affected by the recent earthquake also need support as the situation develops.
Whether your contribution is $5 or $500, every donation can provide relief and remind someone that they are not facing this alone. If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community can make an incredible difference.
From our family to yours, thank you for standing with the people of these three nations. Whether you donate or simply share this campaign, you are helping bring hope and support to families facing an incredibly difficult time.
