Tens of thousands have been affected by the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023.

My husband Murat Kanmaz and I are raising funds for his mother, sister, and her two children who lost their homes and everything they had in Islahiye, a small town near the epicenter that was decimated by the quake.

As on-the-ground resources mobilize to provide emergency support to those impacted, the road ahead will be a long one. Any funds raised here will be used to support Nazife and Tugba Kanmaz and family with long-term rebuilding support including housing, clothing, and food once they are able to evacuate out of Islahiye.

There are many organizations raising money and in-kind donations for those affected, such as International Rescue Committee (IRC), Save the Children, and the Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC. Please consider donating there if you are unable to here.
