Fundraising for victims of earthquakes in Turkey

Dear heavy-hearted friend,

We are witnessing some very sorrowful days in Turkey and Syria. The earthquake that has its epicenter in the Southeastern part of Turkey has left many people caught in ruins, and thousands of people have already been found dead. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced from their homes, and the death toll is expected to increase drastically in the next couple of days. We are a group of people who are in contact with several families in the Southeastern part of Turkey, especially around the area of Kahramanmaras, which has been severely affected by the earthquake and the series of aftershocks, that are still ongoing at the time of writing. The death toll is expected to rise drastically while the search for the missed ones continues. Yet, some areas have still not been reached, and people are waiting desperately for help. This is a very critical situation, and the cold weather does not make the situation better. In a larger area North of Kahramanmaras, the forecasts pointed out that 0,5 - 1 meters of snow would be falling this week. People are standing in very cold weather with limited resources, no proper clothes and no roof over their heads. One of those we are in talk with has lost up to 7 family members, while another person that we have been in contact with has reported that almost its entire family has been displaced from their houses. Many other families are STILL waiting helplessly for help, and we need to act NOW.
