Earthquake damage to home

While we know many people were greatly affected by the recent earthquake in Northern California, our dear friend and coworker in particular has been dealt an extremely heavy hand. Launa is a single mom with two children who works at the Humboldt Senior Resource Center. On December 20th the earthquake violently hit Launa's family farmhouse. Launa was struck by falling objects and her 18 year old developmentally disabled daughter’s bedroom was destroyed with part the ceiling landing on her bed. (thankfully the kids were at grandmas that night!) The family's home suffered extreme damage to the bathroom and the wood stove (the main source of heat) and damage on the supporting beams in the farmhouse.

Launa did not want to ask for help and prides herself in being an active and helpful community member. We as friends and co-workers had to plead for her to allow us to make this account for her and her family. After some time of assessing all of the damages Launa finally agreed to our request to ask for community help. She and her two children are staying with family in another town.
Please consider making a donation to help Launa to make the improvements needed to get her home livable for her and her children.
