Emily's 'Healing Earth' Journey West - 2019

Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I am raising donations towards a trip I will be taking the first two weeks of August to The Steens and Pueblo Mountains of Oregon, where I will participate in a Transformational Retreat with The School of Forest Medicine.
Our group will camp for a week in the desert, where we will explore remote landscapes to commune with plant allies. While deepening our relationship with the plants, land and community - we will inspire new ways to heal and awaken to our fullest creative potential. Under facilitation of herbalist and author Scott Kloos, this program will teach new ways to work ceremonially with plants and elements of Earth in a way that can help transform our most difficult traumas into gifts.
We will be working with native plant species including Quaking Aspen, Western Juniper, Green Ephedra, Yellow Pond Lily and Sage Brush, to bring us healing and reflection. Doing this work in a held vessel will help me find confidence on the path of sharing my own Earth-centered passions. Whether through my nature inspired artwork, or the facilitation of earth-based workshops - I am constantly learning new ways to open people to the wisdom of Nature.  I see Earthen Origins growing to offer experiences like this one in the future.

My goal is to raise $1,500 by July 31st. Contributions will help fund airfare, transportation, and supplies for my trip and the week integration period following.  I am very grateful for any offerings and support towards this educational + healing life goal.  Any contributors will receive a personal art print and poem from my journey when I return East.

             With Gratitude, Emily

Below is a description of the journey from Scott Kloos, herbalist, songwriter & facilitator. -

The School of Forest Medicine Mission: "The School of Forest Medicine is preparing the ground for a more healthy understanding of our human role within the community of life on Earth. As we develop relationships with plants and other nonhuman beings, we cultivate spaces which inspire the emergence of new stories of collective and individual flourishing. We intimately engage with ecological intelligence in order to welcome new patterns of thinking and feeling that will inform the awakening of regenerative lifeways. In these ways we work to support the thriving of individual humans and Earth.”

"The High Desert Odyssey is in the desert of southeastern Oregon. Stepping out of consensus reality for these periods of time and connecting with our plant allies can really help us recalibrate and remember who we really are and what we are here to do. Because these trips are initiatory in nature, they provide excellent opportunities to help guide us through major life transitions and in changing career paths, reconfiguring relationships, breaking through stagnant stretches, and/or stepping into and aligning with new aspects of our interrelated selves.

On this trip the elemental theme is Fire which illuminates the way as its burn away the impediments to walking our paths. We will open the trip with Western Juniper to connect with our ancestors as we ask for guidance and illumination before communing with Quaking Aspen to help us remember our connections with the community of life. Then we will metaphorically descend into the murk with Yellow Pond Lily to clear the second chakra and make way for the force of creativity to move freely through our beings. We will then enter a space of silence as we call upon Green Ephedra, the ancient and wise remover of road blocks. On our final day we will traverse the sacred Earth soothed and guided by Sagebrush offering our gratitude to the spirits of the land."
