EarthElders: URGENT - upcoming Filming trip to Argentina
Donation protected
The "Earth Elders" documentary follows Indigenous Elders of every continent as they seek to fulfil an age-old prophecy —to end the cycle of Empire and unify humanity and the planet.
We are requesting critical support for a transformative co-created film project in Northern Argentina. Led in partnership with Earth Elders and World Over Here, the film project will highlight the severe impact of lithium mining on land ecosystems, and Indigenous communities.

Investment in lithium exploration and production in Argentina surged by 928% from 2015 to 2018 and has continued growing exponentially since. In the Lithium Triangle, indigenous communities in Jujuy are facing increasingly violent conflicts and human rights infringements as reforms allow lithium extraction without consent while restricting protest rights and violating land rights.

Argentinian President Milei is trying to dissolve environmental and human rights provisions to support international land-grabbing efforts and foreign investment in lithium extraction. Thus creating structural vulnerabilities and risking the lives of the 33 indigenous communities living in the Jujuy region.

Emma Edelmira Aleman, Guardian of Qulla Wisdom
Earth Elders film follows Emma, a Qulla Elder and wisdom keeper, as we uncover how Lithium extraction devastates the natural world, and water sanctity, and threatens her people’s cultural survival. By following Emma we are working to document: what is happening in the region, who is fighting for the rights to protect the Earth, and find out the true cost of this green age.
Working to safeguard Indigenous people's sacred lands and livelihoods from green colonisation, WOH and Earth Elders are co-creating this film with local Indigenous filmmakers on the ground.
Foundational to the creation of this film, we aim to cultivate a living network of Indigenous filmmakers equipped with the resources to tell stories of justice for the earth and people from now into the future.
Donations made through this campaign will directly contribute to production costs and supporting local indigenous film makers allowing us to share this important story with the world.
Your support will help us:
- Engage deeply with Indigenous communities in Jujuy to authentically capture their narratives.
- Film exclusive interviews with Emma and other leaders about the social and ecological costs of lithium mining.
- Support indigenous film makers on the ground with salaries and production costs
- Create a powerful documentary that brings these critical issues to global attention.
This project is more than a film, it will be a living network of Indigenous filmmakers highlighting the urgency of protecting their rights and the planet. Your contribution will ensure their stories reach a global audience.
