On Sunday September 13, Ernest Sargent died unexpectedly. Ernest had just celebrated his 63rd birthday the day before with his family. Please keep his wife Elaine and his 4 children children: Joanna, John Wesley, Yisrael and Destiny in your prayers.

*Obituary
Ernest C. Sargent III was in Navasota, Texas on September 12, 1957 to Ernest and Dorothy Sargent. He grew up in a family that was well-connected by his loving grandparents, Joseph and Rosa Wesley. He often spoke about how many of the first cousins would go to Cemetery Hill every day after school and congregate at their grandparents home.
He shared that he accepted Christ at a youth camp at the age of 16. He was a natural and gifted athlete and excelled in track and field and football in high school. Ernest graduated from Navasota High School in 1975 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 1979, where he had also received a scholarship as a "walk on" in track and field. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which sparked his quest for knowledge. Ernest was an avid reader and researcher and loved history, especially black biblical history, authoring several books on the subject. He worked 20 years as a Peace Officer in the state of Texas, proudly serving 15 years of those with the Arlington Police Department in Arlington Texas. He pastored for 25 years at Star of Bethlehem (formerly Morning Star New Testament Church).
Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Sargent Jr. He leaves many loved ones to cherish his memory: his wife of 41 years, Elaine Grover Sargent; their children; Yisrael, John Wesley, JoAnna and Destiny Sargent; his mother, Dorothy Sargent; his brothers, Jay (Jona) and Emil (Annie); aunts, Verdell Jessie, Katherine Reed and Ruth Mooney; uncles, Bobby Wesley, Donald Ray Wesley "Huley", Emory R. Sargent (Gladys), Travis E. Sargent; as well as other cousins, nieces and nephews, his church family and friends.
