Hi, my name is Matt, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help for a truly remarkable family who is facing unimaginable loss.
On the early morning of July 11, 2025, a devastating fire destroyed the home of Mike, Kristine, and their son Cameron Hanlon in New Dutch Settlement, Nova Scotia. In a matter of moments, their world was turned upside down.
While we are incredibly grateful that the family made it out safely, their loss is profound. Not only did they lose their home and all of their belongings, but they also suffered the heartbreaking loss of their two beloved cats, Butter and Toast, who were more than pets—they were cherished members of their family and their closest companions.
As you can imagine, the road ahead is daunting. Rebuilding a life from scratch after such a traumatic event is overwhelming, but I know the Hanlons as strong, kind-hearted people who have always shown up for others in times of need. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.
I understand that these are challenging times for many, but if you’re in a position to give—even a little—your support could make a world of difference. Every donation, every kind word, every share of their story brings hope and healing to this beautiful family.
The Hanlons are deeply moved by the outpouring of love and generosity they’ve already received, and they remain humble and grateful beyond words. I simply want to do my part, because I know—without a doubt—they would do the same for anyone else.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for any support you’re able to offer. Whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or simply spreading the word, it all helps. Let’s come together and lift this family up during one of the hardest moments of their lives.
With gratitude and love,
Matt
