Early Education in a Maasai Community School

Hello dear, Sir or Madam, I am SIMON MALANO from Kenya, an indigenous Maasai from Amboseli. I am a community teacher doing volunteering teaching programs to small kids of age 2 to 8 years old. It is my third year teaching the kids. I am male and 20 years of age. I had an opportunity to join a teacher training program online and started building and getting passionate about teaching young kids. Here is my photo.

The school where I teach is based in the community, mainly to support the young kids learning in a place near to home. Also it helps to start developing themselves when they are so young. My main duty as a teacher is to nurture them on how to read and write before going to government schools which are 10 kilometres from the village. Our school is being supported by the community and well-wishers, but mainly the community. We have 2 rooms for teaching the kids in which I am trying so much as teacher to subdivide them in 3 groups due to ability and age. The first group is of age 7 to 8, the second group is of age 4 to 6 and the last group of age 2 to 3 years. This makes a total of 56 kids in the school. I teach them 5 subjects, most of which we do them in a practical way. The subjects are ENGLISH, SWAHILI, SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, SOCIAL STUDIES and CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION. Mainly in these subjects we subdivide them to ensure that we give them the best practical training that they need. Here are the photos of the kids in learning and doing general exercises.

Today, I am calling for your support in buying supplies for the kids from the community that I nurture. Generally as a school we write on a blackboard, however our school blackboard has been so used that any writing is no longer visible whenever we are writing on it. In this term we are expected to do an examination for which I am calling for your support, as we need to buy test papers. We also need books that the kids will use during learning in class and homework books that they can use for assignments at home.

THE TOTAL COST FOR CLASSROOM SUPPLIES IS 258 USD DOLLARS.

With any extra funds we will pay the school fees for our oldest children.
