A team of teachers and volunteers led by Rose Dodd , over the last three years, have developed and near-perfected a low-cost model to provide a safe space to play and learn for the 1-to-5-year old children of a vulnerable group of urban-poor mothers in Accra-Ghana known as the Kayayoo . The early childhood development center with Kindergarten currently admits over 30 children, cared for by a team of 6 teachers and caregivers.

An organization built on respect and community, Kaya ChildCare is dedicated to providing quality early childhood education to the children of Kayayei in Accra because we believe every child, irrespective of their background deserves a good foundation for education.
We work hand-in-hand with the Kayayoo mother in her effort to raise a child while living on less than USD 3 a day in urban poverty.
Kaya ChildCare currently runs a flagship Early Childhood Center in Madina, and two annual community events; the Pediatric Health screening, and the Hydrate Campaign. The Early Childhood Center serves two main purposes: 1. Get the child out of the busy market while the mother works, to allow the mother to have the peace of mind to grow her business. 2. Provide adequate early childhood development to make the child school-ready using curriculum developed based on the Play Learning, Montessori, and the Ghana Education Service curriculum.

Steps Toward Growth
For the next two years, Kaya ChildCare wants to replicate our low-cost community-based model to expand the provision of the service to 100 kids in our community. Getting a new center going means more space, a bigger team, and more resources for care and learning.
With as little as 10$ you will be supporting nutrition for one child for one month at the new center. And with 100$ you’ll be supporting for a year.
Your cash donation will help us reach our 1-year expansion goal faster for an underprivileged child to receive the right foundations needed for holistic development.
