My Sister's Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My older sister, Sunny, has polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a genetic condition that causes cysts to grow on her kidneys and reduce function. This past year her kidney function was at 7% and she started dialysis. Thankfully she recently received a donor kidney!
While she has coverage for the transplant process itself, the cost of aftercare is not covered, at least not completely. She, accompanied by her husband and son, need to stay in the region of the transplant center for anywhere from 4-6 weeks post surgery for follow up visits, in case of organ rejection, or any other number of complications. Facing illness of any sort is stressful enough, without the added pressure of immense financial burden.
I humbly ask for assistance in any amount, to reach my goal. I would like to be able to provide for $1000/week for aftercare (such as lodging, food, transportation etc) and any other costs the family may incur. My family and I send thanks in advance for any and all generosity.
