Hi friends,
The Barnacle needs to raise $8,177 in cash to "bridge the gap" that was created by the coronavirus pandemic. We've taken steps to scale back costs and put the business on idle until we are able to toast together again.
$2,860 Rent
$1961 Licensing
$856 Utilities
$ 2500 Remobilization (Bring back staff and replace lost food stock)
The Barnacle is a tiny family owned bar & bistro in Eastsound on Orcas Island. The coronavirus closure has put us in an immediate financial struggle. In our little town, businesses that commit to providing year round employment brave the financial drought of the winter by investing summer earnings and leaning on credit. We depend on customers in the spring to put us back in the black. Now with the coronavirus we find ourselves in need of immediate financial help.
The Barnacle is family owned by islanders Tara & Michael. They have two kids in the public school, and fun-fact, Tara is an Army Veteran.
Since taking over The Barnacle three years ago we've crafted a culture of giving. Providing thousands in donations to cancer patients, cultural events, kid sports, and local nonprofits. Whether through our cocktails-for-a-cause program or the many fundraising events hosted each year, we've fostered giving. Now we are the ones in need of help.
The Barnacle has closed our doors and scaled back all operations to idle effective 3/16/2020. Even so, it will cost us to keep the space, and restock when the time comes to open back up. Any donations in excess of these costs will be passed on directly to the furloughed staff. Did I mention they are hard working single moms?
We know we are not alone. Many of our neighboring businesses are also struggling, and we ask if you can find ways to spread the help please do. Visit our website www.thebarnacle.com #SmallBusinessRelief
