Update about my Mom Sara-

I wanted to share an update after Moms most recent oncology appointment .

She’s been dealing with Stage IV metastatic neuroendocrine cancer for over 5 years now. In that time, she’s had multiple surgeries , liver ablation, and monthly treatments . This cancer has spread to too many places for Mom but by the grace of God and her strength she has persevered . However this most recent scan shows progression in the peritoneal cavity which is NOT great news , and her tumor markers have gone up

Because of this, her oncologist is increasing her treatment dose and starting her on an oral chemotherapy medication as well as being referred to Banners MD Anderson for a third type of treatment. Mom lives three hours from where she receives her treatment so she has expenses that are costly for travel every month as well as the cost of her treatment now because it’s a new year so deductibles have to be met before insurance helps . This is a huge financial strain on them.

After Moms first year of treatment, she was placed on 100% disability but shouldn’t have to work to pay for treatment as it is . My Mom worked her whole life and I want more than anything for her to not have to worry about finances while trying to beat this cancer . Hi If you are following my little Mamma's Sara Bartling story I just wanted to give you an update and make a small request . We are still in limbo about Moms cancer treatment as we wait for more bloodwork results following her surgery 3 weeks ago. She is home recovering and the surgeon was able to remove the malignancy from her ovaries. However during surgery, they discovered that the cancer had spread to her peritoneum in addition to other areas which we already knew about including her liver and although continuously treated this results in a stage 4 diagnosis. Due to the nature of her peritoneal carcinomatosis, she will require ongoing treatment indefinitely. My parents are retired and live three hours away from the hospital where my Mom goes to receive her treatments EVERY month which requires them to pay medical cost out of pocket in addition to travel costs including having to stay in a hotel because they can’t travel straight there and back in a day following treatments. I humbly ask if you can make any contribution, no matter how big or small, it will make a significant difference in her fight against this disease. I feel helpless against this disease and I HATE it.
