E&O Insurance for the Red Phone Project

In 2018, historian Rose Stremlau and I created a film to tell the story of Sarah Bryant, the founder of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Studies program at Davidson College through a McMillen Collaborative Research Grant, the film has now been chosen for national broadcast on PBS’s To the Contrary Women and Girls Film Festival.
To air the film on national television, PBS requested I purchase Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance to protect me and the network from unlikely lawsuits. Unfortunately, the E&O insurance PBS requested is $2,273 and the film cannot air without the requested insurance. The film will air in early November and my deadline for raising money is the second week of October, so I am trying to rapidly raise these funds!
With southern states quickly destroying reproductive rights, telling pro-choice stories is more important than ever. I am working to draw national attention to a woman who invested her life in selfless service and providing access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare.
Since co-creating Davidson College’s chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action (PPGA) advocating for reproductive rights and justice has been my top priority. In sharing this story, I hope to spread the word about the impact and potential of grassroots activism. Please consider donating to this project! Any amount, great or small, will help bring this story to a wider audience and maybe even change some minds along the way!
