Eamonn was a fit and healthy 37 year old but on 28th May 2017 he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
In June 2017 Eamonn went through his first surgery unfortunately a number of complications followed which left him fully dependent on the care of the national rehabilitation hospital where he remained until November 2017.
After Eamonn's discharge from hospital he continue his intensive rehab as an out patient and after months of hard work he regained a quality of life where he was active with his local GAA club and his young son Fionn.
Unfortunately seven years later Eamonn and his family got the devastating news that there was a reoccurrence of the brain tumour his medical team changed his diagnosis from treatable to incurable. Surgery is no longer an option , a lengthy period of chemotherapy and radiotherapy were decided upon. To date Eamonn has been undergoing these treatments.
The reason we are raising funds is to support Eamonn and his family as they have suffered significant financial loss as Eamonn is unable to work.Eamonn is also precluded from any mortgage payment protection or critical illness payment which is adding to the families worries.
The side effects of the treatment is still unknown Ger Brennan and myself will run the Dublin City marathon in October to raise funds to help Eamonn and his family.
