Eaglescliffe Golf Society is coming together for a special charity golf event to raise funds for Maggie’s cancer charity—a cause that means a great deal to my family.

My name is Stefan Butler, I run a local golf society called The Eaglescliffe Golf Society (The EGS). A core member of the EGS family, my dad, had some very bad news late last year when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He is battling through it like he has always done with any problem he's faced in life, but as the EGS is a proper golfing family, we wanted to personally dedicate our next event to my dad. The event is now called the Stevie Butler Vase, where we will be battling it out for the vase, whilst raising money for this incredible charity.

My dad has personally chosen Maggie’s as the charity he would like us to support. Maggie's offers support to those living with cancer, as well as their families completely free of charge. This makes our fundraising particularly meaningful, giving us the opportunity to come together as friends, family and fellow golfers to support a cause close to his heart.

Cancer affects so many families, and we want to turn a day of golf, friendship and friendly competition into something that makes a difference for others affected by it.
