Eagle Project @ YMCA

My name is Benjamin Krebs. I am working on my Eagle project as part of my path to Eagle.  I am a Scout in Troop 727 in Burlington, KY.  I am raising funds to help pay for the materials to construct a retaining wall at the beach area at the YMCA Camp in Burlington, KY.  This project will benefit the YMCA and help with the “beach erosion” that currently happens at the lake area.  Currently the sand washes into the lake.  This causes the YMCA to have to spend funds to replace the sand annually.  This is a continued cost for them.  The retaining wall will help retain the sand on the beach area.  One of the side goals would be to allow the YMCA to purchase a higher quality sand for the beach area. Currently they purchase a mason sand that has small stones.  A higher quality sand cost more but with the improved retention of sand on the beach area they can consider using a higher quality sand that does not have stones.  This will allow the beach area to be more beach like and softer on the feet of the children that use the beach during camp.   Thank you for considering a donation for this worthwhile project.
