Eagle Project: TACO Pack-Mental Health First Aid
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Cailyn Stamper and I’m a Life Scout from BSA Troop 2191G in New Hudson, Michigan. My Eagle Project is very important to me. I decided to make mental health first aid kits for kids who have experienced the loss of a loved one. I call them TACO Packs - Take Along Crisis Option Packs. I’ll be making them for the Henry Ford Hospital’s SandCastles program. It is an incredible program that provides grief support for children and families.
Each kit will contain objects such as a stuffed animal, coloring pages, colored pencils, notepads, bubbles, putty, calming cards, stress ball, eye mask, and gum. They are designed for comfort, distraction, and stress relief. Each kit will cost approximately $7. My goal is to provide 200 kits for the SandCastles program to distribute to the families they are helping now along with families that will be joining their program over the next year. I hope to deliver them by Christmas.
I decided to take on this project because I lost my cousin Kat two years ago. She was only 17. I realize now that a lot of kids are going through that same thing that I did. I want them to know that they aren’t alone. Especially now with Covid-19, family and friends aren’t together to support each other. With your help, these kits can make a real difference.
The overall cost of my project is $1,466. The entirety of the funds raised will go directly into the production of our kits. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated. It not only means a great deal to me, I know it will mean a lot to the kids that will be receiving the kits as well.
