Eagle Project: Save Lunch, Feed a Friend

My name is Amelia Gatlin, and I’m a senior at Richardson High School and a proud member of Scouts BSA Troop 444G. I’m currently working on my Eagle Scout project, and I need your support to make it a reality.

For my project, I’m creating a food collection and distribution system to address food waste in our school cafeteria and food insecurity in our community. Every day, unopened, non-perishable food from school lunches is thrown away, despite many students suffer from hunger.

With the support of my school principal and peer mediation teacher, I’m setting up a program where students can place uneaten, unopened items into designated food boxes. These boxes will be placed in rolling crates just outside the cafeteria, making it easy to donate and share food instead of wasting it.

This project will:

  • Reduce food waste
  • Support students in need
  • Foster a stronger, more inclusive school community

Any funds raised will go toward building and supplying the collection system. All excess donations will be given directly to Richardson High School to continue supporting student initiatives.

I would be incredibly grateful for your help in funding this project. Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference. Thank you for supporting me, our school, and our community!
