Eagle Project: Camillus Ski Hill
My name is Hunter Bealer and I am an Eagle Scout Candidate from Troop 220, Syracuse, New York, and a Freshman at West Genesee High School.
I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project with Camillus Winter Sports Association, in Camillus, New York. Camillus Winter Sports Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been teaching members of the community to Ski since 1965. In 2015, Camillus Ski Hill added a much anticipated Snowtube Park and became the Camillus Winter Sports Association. CSWA is now a family friendly winter sports location that provides a safe environment for kids and teenagers to get outdoors in the winter months. I learned to ski at Camillus Ski Hill and as a cub scout assisted with rock picking for the building of the Tubing Park. I'm anxious to give back to Camillus Winter Sports Association, it has meant a lot to me and I have fond memories of being there as a student, volunteer, and as a ski instructor.
For my eagle project, I will be coordinating the rebuilding of the fence along the parking lot that provides a barrier for the adjoining neighbors. The fence will be a wooden privacy fence approximately 80 feet in length. For this project, I will be digging the fence post holes to support the fence panels that will be built on site. In addition to the fence, I will also be building a viewing deck at the tubing park. The new deck will allow parents and spectators to stand or bring a chair to view their family members as they utilize the tubing hill. The deck will be by 8 by 24 feet and have a railing for the safety of the spectators. I will be digging post holes for the deck structure, building the deck frame, adding the deck boards and finishing with a railing.
