Donate for Baby Darragh Linnane

Gort GAA Club are showing our support for little Darragh Linnane. 

Both the Linnane and Killilea Families have been deeply embedded in Gort GAA Club for many years. We will be holding a fundraiser in the coming weeks. Further details to follow.

Little Darragh’s Story from his parents Darragh and Niamh.

On the 11th of February this year, our two-year-old little boy, Darragh, was diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Darragh's diagnosis came as an overwhelming shock, and our world was turned upside down overnight. We were numb with the news that Darragh had a tumour in his kidney and would need to undergo chemotherapy and surgery in Crumlin Children's Hospital.

Darragh is the youngest of four children. Cara (8), Cathal (6) and Éabha (4) have been amazing to their baby brother during this extremely difficult time. Darragh loves being around his siblings, playing with them and spending as much time as he can with them. He also loves doing ' the work' with his dad, driving Grandad Sylvie's digger, telling stories to Nana Margaret, looking at the cows and baby calves with Grandad Anthony, and baking with Nana Ger. He also loves spending time with his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Darragh is a strong, bubbly and courageous little boy with the heartiest laugh. It is hard to imagine our little boy going through so much, but Darragh has shown incredible strength.

Following surgery we found out Darragh has a rarer, more aggressive cancer, and he was immediately put on a more intensive treatment plan of radiotherapy, which he has completed in St Luke's Hospital, and a new intensive chemotherapy regimen in Crumlin Children's Hospital, which is currently ongoing.

Outside of chemotherapy, Darragh has occasional visits to Galway University Hospital when his immune system has weakened, etc.

Having a seriously ill child is one of the hardest crosses any parents have to bear, but we continue to hope and pray for his recovery.
