Hi everyone, as you all know, I had found myself dealing with a much unexpected bankruptcy. This has been a year that has been met with heartache after heartache.
Despite my endless efforts to rise above my challenges, every step forward has resulted in two steps backwards . I can handle losing any material things I have had. They are just things. But the impact this has had on my daughter is just heart wrenching.
My 13 year old daughter, Samantha, is a brilliant student. She has attended a local Catholic school since kindergarten, where she has excelled and has even represented the school’s academic team, where they had placed 1st place earlier this month. As a result of my bankruptcy, I had found paying her school tuition challenging. I had filed for an emergency “change of family situation “ with the archdioceses financial aid department. However that seems to be a slow and not promised benefit.
On Wednesday, November 8th, the school had contacted me and stated that unless I paid them past due tuition, my daughter would not be allowed to stay. I had begged and pleaded, but the school would not budge on this. I am beyond devastated. Having to tell my 13 year old that here in her 8th grade year, she would not be able to attend until I was able to collect money, was tragic.
As always, Samantha handled this disappointment with grace. But it’s not ok. She wants to be back in her school for her 8th grade year. And I care tremendously about her education. I’m just at a loss. I have sold everything I have. And I’m still short. Currently Samantha is “home schooling” herself until I can collect enough money or her financial aid comes through and she can return to school.
Folks have asked how they can help so I had created this page.
