"Life360 detected sudden motion on Calbert’s phone. This could have been caused by a collision, hard braking, or a dropped phone."
It’s an alert no expectant mother should ever have to read—especially not from her husband’s location. What was supposed to be a girls' night filled with laughter and pizza quickly turned into the unimaginable.
On July 22, 2025, Calbert Smith (33)—a devoted husband to Jasmin and father to Chance, Kai, and soon-to-arrive baby Keziah—suffered a heart attack while driving. The medical emergency caused him to wreck and totaled his vehicle. Calbert lost his pulse, and EMS worked relentlessly to revive him. By the grace of God, they were able to bring his pulse back.
But as the hours passed, devastating news began to surface: Calbert’s brain had suffered extensive damage. Damage that, barring a miracle from God, is irreversible.
At just 23 weeks pregnant, Jasmin now finds herself living at the hospital—resting on hard chairs, surviving on hospital food, and surrounded by the sounds of machines keeping her husband alive. She spends every waking moment updating loved ones and praying. One question continues to echo in her mind:
"What am I going to do?"
While we can’t take away the heart-wrenching pain Calbert’s family is enduring, we can help ease the financial burdens they now face—from mounting medical bills to uncertain future needs.
We are humbly asking for support from our community.
Your generosity can offer Calbert, Jasmin, and their children the stability they so desperately need—and a glimmer of hope in the middle of this heartbreak.
Every donation is deeply appreciated, no matter the amount.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time."
—Psalms 34:18-19
