Hey everyone,
I’m Edward Martin, and I never thought I’d be writing something like this. My Dachshund Louie is my best buddy, he’s four years old, and honestly, he’s the happiest little guy I know. He loves burrowing under his blue blanket and always manages to steal a sock or two when I’m not looking.
A couple of days ago (September 16th), I came home from work and something was just… off. Louie usually jumps off the couch and runs to me, but this time he just sat there looking at me. I picked him up and set him on the floor, but he couldn’t stand on his back legs. I tried to tempt him with a treat (his favorite chicken ones), but he just sat there, not moving. My heart dropped.
We rushed him to the emergency vet in Orcutt. They told us it was IVDD, a spinal issue that dachshunds are prone to. The only real option was surgery, and I had to make the call right then and there. I’d do anything for Louie, so I opened a CARES credit card and paid the $8,600 bill. It’s a lot, and honestly, I’m struggling to cover it.
I’m hoping to raise $4,300 to help with the cost. If you can chip in, even a little, it would mean the world to me and Louie. And if you can’t, just sharing this would help a ton.
Thank you for reading this and for caring about my little guy. I just want to see him wagging his tail and chasing socks again.
Edward & Louie
