My Global Citizen Year (Senegal)
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nyles Davidheiser. I am 18 years old and currently a senior at a boarding school called the Milton Hershey School (MHS) in Hershey, Pennsylvania http://www.mhskids.org/. With an aspiration to become a financial advisor, my passion is to prepare and educate individuals to create and achieve their financial goals. A little background behind my passion to be a financial advisor stems from an underprivileged childhood growing up in a household well below the poverty line.
Since childhood, I have had the desire to explore the world and experience other cultures. I have been fortunate enough to have been accepted into a program called Global Citizen Year. The Global Citizen Year program is a leadership development fellowship. Taking this bridge year to experience community immersion brings my desire to reality. I am very interested in living outside of my comfort zone and adapting to unfamiliar living conditions.
Not only will this provide me with global awareness, but it will enhance my skills needed to achieve my career goal to be a financial advisor in the near future. My goal is to give back and impact the lives of others since I was once an underprivileged child and I, too, was invested in and provided for through (MHS).
Additionally, taking a year off will allow me to discover new interests, develop new life skills, and network while meeting and working with individuals with similar goals for the world. Global Citizen Year is a well-respected program that I wish to be a part of. While gaining experience through a Global Citizen Year, I will most importantly leave a lasting impact in the world.
With this being said, I would like to reach out and ask if anyone is willing to donate any funds to help assist me on this trip to Senegal, by June 25th 2016. The money I receive will allow me to experience this incredible opportunity abroad and would be well-appreciated. I would like to fundraise $4,000. The funds will be specifically used as a fundraiser which all accepted applicants are required to raise going towards the Fellows’ Fund ($2,500) and partially towards contribution of my tuition fee ($1,000) and my travel expenses for training approximately ($500).
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Nyles Davidheiser
