Delia Fischer Beyond Bossa - 1st Album in English

Hi, my name is Allen Morrison, jazz journalist and pianist. My songwriting partner Delia Fischer, based in Rio de Janeiro, is an extraordinary Brazilian singer, songwriter, and pianist. Delia's previous two albums both earned Latin Grammy nominations for Best Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) Album of the Year, in 2019 and 2021, an incredible feat. Her songs are witty, poetic, and unforgettable.

Over the years, Delia has collaborated with the greats of Brazilian music, including Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Gilberto Gil, Marcos Valle, Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Ed Motta, and Toninho Horta, as well as European stars including Sweden's Lisa Nilsson and Italy's Mario Biondi. And for more than a decade she served as music director and arranger for hit musicals in Brazil that earned her several prestigious theater awards.

Now it is time for a more daring move to bring her music to a broader audience. For her first international album, sung mostly in English, she has recorded Delia Fischer: Beyond Bossa. I happen to be the English lyricist on it, having written English versions of more than a dozen of her songs.

The new record will include duets with great collaborators such as jazz singers Gretchen Parlato and Luciana Souza, Bossa Nova legend Marcos Valle, jazz guitarist Chico Pinheiro, The New York Voices, Italian soul-singer Mario Biondi, American cellist Eugene Friesen, and Brazilian singer-composer Marcio Nucci.

We plan to release Delia Fischer: Beyond Bossa worldwide in September 2024 (see update below!!), with a supporting tour of the U.S. and Europe to come in the near future. Our first single, "What Good is Summer?" was released on March 14, 2024, featuring co-writer Marcio Nucci on vocals, the wonderful American cellist Eugene Friesen, and an orchestra from Hungary playing Eugene's beautiful string arrangement!
