Surgery Funds For Echo

Donation protected
Echo was originally brought in to the vets because she was refusing food and water. She was on her way to becoming dehydrated so we brought her to the vets to have them diagnose her, she was immediately put on IV fluids. During her recovery on the IV she was doing great happy alert and everything was fine, until the IV was removed. Before we had even gotten home with Echo her front left leg was swelling. We tried everything to get the swelling down but nothing worked; her leg grew to twice its normal size within hours.

Scar tissue had formed in the vein when the IV was removed, which blocked normal blood flow. The only options we had left was to either give up on this poor puppy or amputate her leg and save her life.

Like most three legged dogs, Echo has not skipped a beat since the amputation, but within a few months began to have some discomfort in her rear legs. We kept her quiet as best we could and put her on homeopathic’s, crate rest and iced it throughout the day to bring down the swelling. After a few more days with no improvements we brought Echo to the vets. Echo was diagnosed with Grade three Lateral patellar laxation in both rear legs. Genetics are not to blame in Echo's case. Instead, it was the over compensation her back legs were forced to make as she experienced normal puppy growth on three legs.

We’ve made many different calls and emails to orthopedic surgeons, vets and people that make orthopedic braces and they all agree that because she has grade three laterally patellar laxation that the only way to correct it will be with surgery. The orthopedic surgeon will not preform the surgery on Echo till she is at least ten months of age due to her growth plates.

In the mean time we have to do our very best to manage Echo’s pain and keep her quiet. We have her on homeopathic’s, vitamins, hydrotherapy, iced daily, massage and have been bringing her to a wonderful chiropractor for ongoing adjustments as well.

Echo is a very brave and strong girl and has over come and continuing to over come great challenges at only seven months of age . Donations would be greatly appreciate as we can’t do this alone and Echo would love to be able to run and play again!
