We are a family of 5: my husband Juan (51 years old), our two sons (24 & 23 years old), my daughter (17 years old) and myself (47 years old). My husband and I are both Industrial Engineers but I have been a stay-at-home mom most of my life. Our three kids are all students, in Illustration, Computer Science & high school (starting university next fall). 

In April this year my husband was diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer.  He is undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. He is responding well to treatment but it has been a rocky road. We've gone through five 911 calls and two inpatient hospitalizations with a duration of weeks and several days. My husband hasn't been able to work anymore and I became his fulltime care giver.
Our kids all work part time but it hasn't been enough and our debt has grown.

On top of everything on December 4th I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your peripheral nervous system. As a result your body begins to paralyze. I couldn't walk (now I walk with difficulty), half of my face was paralyzed, my arms and hands are weak and tingly all the time, most of my body is numb especially my feet and I get tired easily. I'm on a pureed food diet because I can't swallow solid food. I am also receiving physiotherapy every day. I expect to recover well but it takes time.

Right now our three kids juggle school, work and taking care of both parents.
We have incredibly wonderful friends that bring cooked meals to our home, take us to doctors appointments when the kids can't, and help us in every way they can. But we need help to stay afloat financially in this critical time.
