Freddie’s Fight
Donation protected
In mid-January, Freddie’s brother Maverick brought it to our attention that something was going on inside Freddie’s mouth. Maverick was constantly licking the side of Freddie’s face to help us discover the worst—oral melanoma. Freddie’s vet (Cross Timbers Veterinary Center) had a biopsy done as well as X-rays to see if anything had metastasized, and we got fortunate enough to catch this before it did. His vet then referred us to an oncologist at BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Dallas, where he had a CT scan done on January 30th. The oncologist went over several treatment options, and we came to the conclusion that surgery + chemotherapy would be the best treatment plan for Freddie.
On February 5th, Freddie had a consultation with the surgeon, and she said the goal is to remove the entire tumor and some surrounding tissue to ensure a clear margin of healthy tissue. This would require removing a portion of his lower jaw bone. As most of you know, Freddie has been through multiple surgeries in his lifetime, and he always bounces back quickly and is in perfect health other than this horrible disease. His surgery is scheduled for February 19th; however, with this cancer being so aggressive, they are wanting to get him in sooner.
If you are able to help in any way, your support will mean so very much to our family. If you are unable to donate, please keep Freddie in your thoughts and prayers. I can’t lose him without trying to get him what he needs to live a longer, healthy life.
