Camden Madsen Medical and Travel Expenses
Donation protected
Hello,
I’m Ashlee Schultz and I appreciate you taking the time to learn about my nephew’s journey. He is scheduled for his sixth open heart surgery, and I’m hoping you’ll help me provide some financial assistance to his family.
Camden and his family live in Brookings, SD and will be traveling to Minneapolis, MN for his sixth open heart surgery. Camden will be admitted to the Children’s Hospital on Monday July 11th with surgery scheduled for Friday July 15th. Recovery is expected to be 10-14 days.
The raised funds will assist the Madsen family with travel expenses and the loss of income due to unpaid time off.
Camden is a soft-spoken, lovable 7 year old who was born with a heart defect. Camden has scheduled heart appointments every three months and pacemaker appointments every six months to see how his heart is doing.
Since birth he has endured 15 surgeries to keep his heart regulating. He has had five open heart surgeries, four heart catheterizations, two delayed sternal closures, a right diaphragm plication surgery, a nissen fundoplication, g-tube inserted, and a permanent pacemaker placed. And if that wasn’t enough, the list continues.
He has had his coarctation repaired, a mitral valveoplasty to repair his mitral valve, an obstruction removed below his aortic valve, a Ross/kono procedure to remove the obstruction again and replace his aortic valve. A stent placed at his pulmonary valve, and his pulmonary conduit and valve replaced.
Now Camden and his family are preparing for his 6th open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve, replace his pulmonary conduit, a new pacemaker, and see what they are able to do with his mitral valve.
Camden's family includes his parents, Mike and Stacee, two big sisters, Alexis (11) and Braylee (10) and little brother Miles (2). They live in Brookings, SD. Stacee works at Avera Medical Group and Mike works at 3M.
Any monetary donation, prayers, and well-wishes are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ashlee
