Quinn's tummy hasn't worked right since she was very little. After 6 years of battling with a failing GI system, we decided it was important for her to be cared for by a hospital system that had a motility specialist in it. All of Quinn's care was switched to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, many miles and hours away. There, she had a special manometry test to see how bad her motility is. As it turns out, she will be needing a couple of abdominal operations to help her live a better, more comfortable life. Her first operation will be for a colostomy bag. This operation requires them to disconnect the non-working bowel and connect the working portion to the colostomy bag. If this works well for her, we are hoping that a few months down the line, she will be able to have the remaining of her functioning bowel reconnected and the colostomy bag removed. In addition, she will have her non-working bowel removed. Her first operation is coming up on October 2nd 2014. We are asking for donations for travel expenses such as car care, gas money and money for food while Quinn is in the hospital. Quinn's mother is a single mom and she does not get any type of payments when Quinn is in the hospital, so any hospitalizations are that much harder on them.
