Help Nate Kick Cancer

Hi, I’m Angela and I’m raising money to help support my brother in-law, Nathaniel/Nate, in his fight against testicular cancer. Mary and Nate are both having to take a lot of time off of work to ensure he gets the care he needs. On top of the normal everyday burdens, I wanted to create this GoFundMe to help with medical bills, comfort items, and food/groceries throughout his treatment. For food they usually order through DoorDash and gifts cards can be sent to Mary’s email: [email redacted]

We appreciate any and all support that you are able to give. We also ask for prayers for Nate’s recovery/health, Nate and Mary’s mental strength, and for their daughter, Eleanor throughout this process.

On January 30th, Nate went to a doctors appointment after noticing pain in one of his testicles. He had just ran his first 10k and was feeling in great health besides the pain. So he wanted to be cautious and get it checked out.

During next week after visiting his urologist he underwent ultrasounds, lab work, MRI, and other tests. He was told the news that there were 2 masses in his testicle and that it was most likely cancer. He was told he needed to have an orchiectomy as soon as possible.

On February 6th, Nate had an orchiectomy to remove the affected testicle and masses so that the lab could run pathology to figure out what was going on.

On February 14th, Nate and Mary got the terrible news they had already felt was coming and the doctor confirmed that the masses were cancerous. Nate was diagnosed with Stage 1a testicular cancer.

Nate had a follow up appointment on February 19th with a MRI. This scan showed his lymph nodes were enlarged and his doctor changed his staging to Stage 2b (more developed and more aggressive than previously thought).

March 1st: Nate and Mary were given 2 options of chemotherapy as treatment and after comparing both with their oncologist it was determined that Nate would need to undergo 4 rounds of treatment. The treatment rounds are 1 week of chemo (M-F) then 2 weeks off before starting the next round.

On March 11th, Nate started his first round of chemo. He is currently in his 2 weeks off in his first cycle. Nate is experiencing the expected side effects of the chemotherapy and we anticipate that they will continue throughout but he is staying positive and strong.
