Help with independent movie

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jan and I am fundraising on behalf of an independent movie production called Black Creek. This is the creation from the Queen of martial arts Cynthia Rothrock who has starred in over 60 action movies. Like Cynthia I grew up watching and being inspired by this genre and her movies were very important in helping me escape from the things that were happening in my life. These characters with their strong moral ethics, realistic use of martial arts and incredible feats of endurance, helped shape my personality and life. This inspired my two passions which is a love of movies and of martial arts. I would have loved a career in movies, but that was not to be. In 1997 I sustained a fractured skull in a serious accident which I was lucky to survive. In a pursuit of healing my body and mind, I followed on from my childhood lessons of Kung Fu and Karate and found my calling in Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. This led in turn to a career in teaching that spans 24 years, but I never lost my passion for movies. I have always been a really confident person who has travelled extensively alone to the Far East to further my study of the Chinese internal martial arts, but in the last four years I`ve been through some personal struggles which took away that confidence and ability to do the things that I really want in life. I have never given up on overcoming these difficulties and in doing so it`s made me even more determined. Part of my self-recovery was reconnecting to some of the old martial arts films that I grew up on.

In July of this year I saw that Cynthia was going to be at the London film and TV comic con and I set myself the challenge of going to meet her. For my old self, travelling up there alone and going into large crowds with people wouldn`t have been a big deal, but I wasn`t sure if I would be able to manage it. My experience of the day was one of elation, everyone I met was so lovely and I felt like I was in a big room with friends. I felt my old self had returned. Meeting Cynthia was the highlight of my day, she was so lovely to all of her fans and nothing felt rushed. Later I attended her talk, and even though I already knew about Black Creek, hearing her talk about her passion for her movie, made me desire for it to be everything that she wanted it to be. I had already donated towards helping the production of the movie, but I came away wanting to be more involved.

I saw that the producers of the film were offering opportunities to have small parts in the movie and on set experiences with the rest of the cast and crew. This movie is also starring more of my childhood martial arts heroes, such as Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Richard Norton and Keith Cooke to list but a few of the many great actors who are lending their support to this production, so getting involved in this movie is a big deal for me. The filming will take place at the famous Mescal movie studio near Benson Arizona, where such films as Outlaw Josey Wales, Tombstone, The Quick and the Dead, The Magnificent Seven and Maverick were filmed. This is authentic Wild West country where a lot of the famous names in Wild West history lived and died.

The reason why I have started this fundraiser is because I have just learnt that additional funding is needed to make Black Creek all they envision. As this is an independent movie there is no studio to provide extra funding and they`re in need of funds for additional equipment for extra crew, production design, props and transport costs etc. I have put a goal of £5,000 towards these costs, but more would be fantastic. Filming starts at the end of October 2023, so there is only about 3 weeks to raise as much money as possible. I believe whole heartedly in this movie and how good it`s going to be. I feel it`s going to resurrect the old martial arts movies but with a gritty modern edge. This opportunity combines both my childhood passion of movies and martial arts. Cynthia is making the dreams come true for her fans, so please help me, help her, to make her dream come true.

This fundraiser has been created with the full knowledge and permission of Cynthia Rothrock and all proceeds will be going direct to her and the production of this movie.

However much is raised, it will be presented with an over sized cheque on the set of Black Creek and this fundraiser will be updated with a photograph.

I will be getting something from the set signed to give away to someone who has donated and for everyone who backs my campaign, with the permission of the producers, I will be arranging a private local screening of the movie when it's released next year.
