It is hard to watch a loved one struggle. In our close- knit family we lean on one another and give lots of support- physical, emotional, financial. However, the day has come . One of us needs even more help...
Our Aunt Dottie is one of the strongest, most caring and compassionate woman we know. She has been through a lot with more tough times ahead. When she was just 15 years old she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma which required major surgery, an extended stay at Maine Medical Center, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. This was the beginning of many health issues, some due to the type of radiation she received. In 2007 Dottie needed a large portion of her small intestine removed. In 2010 she underwent quad bypass heart surgery. In 2014 she discovered a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with cancer. Because of her previous treatment for Hodgkin's, radiation was not an option, but a mastectomy was. Following surgery she developed a major infection which required another emergency surgery. Dottie has had many bumps in the road along the treatment and reconstruction process. Throughout all this, she continues to be a positive force not only in our family but to all those she comes in contact with. She is a hard worker. She is always concerned with the well-being and happiness of others. Her kindness and compassion run deep.
Dottie is still facing at least one, but possibly 3 more surgeries. Despite having health insurance, the medical bills are staggering. For several years in a row a very high yearly deductible in addition to many co-pays has medical bills mounting. Dottie has extensively researched any kind of aid and organizations that might offer financial assistance but has come up empty-handed . We truly want our aunt to be able to focus on her health and healing, but the stress and worry is great. We would be forever grateful if people were able to make a contribution, however small, it all adds up.
Thank you for your consideration.
