Hope for Opie

October 12, 2023: Our hearts are shattered. Opie crossed the rainbow bridge today. There was nothing more that could be done to save his heart. Thank you for your time and generosity. We continue to ask for donations to pay for the hefty weight of dues because of the vet bills that have piled high. Opie fought for his life and was loved immensely until his last breath.

Our beloved Opie faced a terrifying ordeal. His heart failed him and our world came crashing down. We are reaching out to you, humbly asking for your support in this challenging time as we embark on a journey to save Opie's life.

Opie is not just a dog; he is a cherished member of our family. His wagging tail, playful spirit, and unwavering loyalty have brought immeasurable joy to our lives for the past eight years. He's been there through our happiest moments and our toughest times, offering a comforting paw and a listening ear (or rather, listening eyes) whenever we needed.

The diagnosis from the veterinarian was devastating - Opie urgently needs life-saving medical intervention. His heart condition has led to a buildup of fluid in his lungs and stomach, making it nearly impossible for him to breathe comfortably. We were told that without immediate treatment, Opie's chances of survival are slim.

Here's where we need your help. Opie requires a series of critical medical procedures, including a heart aspiration, an echocardiogram, and testing the aspirated fluid for cancer. This will help us understand the underlying cause of his condition and determine the best course of action. The costs for these initial procedures estimated $7,000 and will ultimately exceed $9,000, which is a daunting amount for our family to bear alone.
