For those of you who know Ronnie Houchens (hooch), you know he loves his family, his friends, and of course UofL Basketball. But what you may not know, is that on Friday, February 11th, Ronnie suffered several seizures and ended up at U of L hospital. After arriving at the hospital, scans were taken and showed masses in his lungs and two on his brain. After removing the largest brain mass on Monday, February 14th, we know Ronnie has adenocarcinoma lung cancer that has spread to his brain.
If you know Ronnie, you know that he will fight this diagnosis with all of his might – and with his loving family and friends by his side – but unfortunately, this will be a long road to recovery. A road filled with many treatments and many tough days. So if you know Ronnie, Belinda, his kids or his grandkids, lets help him to fight in whatever way we can.
Medical bills will come – during and long after treatment. Many days off of work (often unpaid) for recovery. Gas to drive to and from treatments and Dr. visits, and countless other bills that Ronnie and Belinda should NOT be focused on right now. Their focus is clear: Ronnie’s health and recovery with as little stress as possible during this time. So our focus is now clear as well, let’s rally together as friends, family and as a community to help ease the financial burden that this diagnosis will incur – every little bit will help!
If you are unable to give financially, we understand! Please offer your prayers for a speedy recovery.
Let’s rally behind Ronnie and kick this cancer’s ass!!
