Koko's Road to Recovery

Some of you may know her as Ms. Hudson, Huddy, Erin, or the crazy dog mom. Erin Hudson has been a teacher at ACPS for over 7 years and has been changing kids' lives since she set foot on Alexandria City High School's campus. During covid she made the decision to become a dog mom in one of the most dog friendliest cities, our very own Alexandria. On July 6th, 2020, Erin rescued Koko from what many would consider a "ruff" way to start life as a dog, but Erin poured her heart and soul into giving Koko everything she didn't have the first 7 months of her life. On November 17th, rigth after school let out, Koko was playing with her brother, Juno and Mom, Erin. Before Erin could blink, Koko was rounding the corner of a gate and had escaped, playing her usual game of "Houdini". With neighbors searching the neighborhood looking for our beloved Koko, a runner happened to find her curled up in the woods with injuries that resembled a hit and run. Koko's skin on her back right leg has completely come off exposing her bones and ligaments along with a fracture. She is currently having to stay put at a local animal hospital receiveing around the clock treatment until a surgeon can assess whether or not she needs an amputation. As of now expenses are through the roof, but as a dog community we know we would do anything for our 4 legged family members. Koko has supported Erin through the dark times of covid, a light for many neighbors and friends, and even a support for Erin's mom who is facing medical complications of her own.
